More Planning Violations by Go Ape

These photo’s were taken on Friday, showing cars parked outside the area stated on the planning application, when the official car park was empty.

Neither United Utilities nor Chorley Borough Council seem to be concerned.

Bob has sent a letter to Martin Padley at United Utilities and an email to Steve Aldous at Chorley asking why these breaches of planning regulations have not been spotted by their staff.

Meanwhile the blue containers have been removed after the Friends of Lever Park complained, and Go Ape have been told to remove the security lights that they installed, again contrary to the planning approval. As of today (Saturday) the external security shutters have still not been removed (yet another breach of planning approval).

Email and Write to Them!

Keep the pressure up on Chorley council. The following people have a direct responsibility for the key decisions that allowed Go Ape to be built.

Here’s what Keith Winstanley said in a internal Chorley BC memo on 8th July, just before planning permission was granted:

For such an impressive layout I am pleased that it appears to have such a small arboricultural impact. The fixings for the equipment utilise a tried technique which allows freedom of movement and growth to the trees while offering protection to the wood.

The only trees marked for removal are the three under the zip line, numbered 755, 757 and 758. Of these 755 is in poor condition, with a large cavity in the trunk, 757 is dead, or very nearly so and 758 is small, supressed and leaning.

Due to this, I have no objections to the application.

In your email or letter, you might want to ask what Mr Winstanley’s judgement might have been if he’d known that 13 trees have been felled by Go Ape without planning permission or reference to United Utilities or Chorley. You might also want to point out that no more trees can be felled without planning permission.

Chorley Investigate Themselves

Chorley Borough Council have been told by the Local Goverment Ombudsman’s office that they have recieved a formal complaint regarding planning application 08/00553/FUL (go-ape).

This application was put through Delegated Powers and controlled throughout its process by JANE MEEK,and finished up with her signing the final planning permission.

Chorley Borough Council have confirmed that the complaint is under investigation by JANE MEEK.

( WAKE UP CHORLEY,HOW CAN SHE INVESTIGATE HERSELF).

What is being uncovered here is only the tip of the iceberge,and if Chorley want to make any attempt to restore public confidence they should sort their house out and quick.

I wonder what Chorley’s MP thinks about this.
