DIANE & ALBERT SCHANZL,
"We were part of the group who stopped the Blue planet project in Rivington all those years ago. Members of our motorbike club spent weeks collecting signatures against north west waters attempts to filch the family silver. Two of our bike club members travelled to London to present the petition. We won the day then and it can be done again with people power. Chorley council should hang their heads in shame, in fact heads should roll. Councillors hold their priviliged positions because of the votes of local people. They now choose to betray those people, for what gain? "
James Manning,
"The world does not need another area of natural beauty to be taken over by a tacky leisure activity. What it needs is for areas of natural beauty like Rivington to be preserved and enjoyed by everyone as they are. Areas of natural beauty are already under pressure to be used as windfarms - at least these have a purpose of benefit to all.
We also need local authorities to respect the law. Not consulting residents on something like this is absolutely criminal. Chorley are supposed to be a leading authority on customer service and profiling customer wants and needs. Customers want to be consulted on decisions that affect the areas the love. I say no to any business venture taking over Rivington and Lever Park, and no to council's abusing their responsibilities to communities!"
Master. D.F. Chadwick,
"Today, we live in a world that revolves around money! - Our ancestors would be rolling in their graves in they saw the way our councils were "playing" around with the landscape of Rivington and the surrounding areas. It is about time someone stood up to our somewhat corrupt councils who only ever seem interested in money and showed them how they should do their jobs - as they are elected to serve the community well – on behalf of the people. As i previously used to own horses and still ride in the area, i know how in the summer months the village and countryside fills up with people. We don't need any more. A development of this scale in our local area would serve no relevance or benefit to the local community nor would it do the local wildlife any good. Leave it alone! NO to GO APE!"

"This was the one place my family and I could visit, away from charges and themed controlled areas. We are shocked to hear about planned changes and charges. What a shame for the area, people and wildlife. Stop this and leave this area alone please. "

Amanda Smith,
"Rivington attracts sight-seers, walkers, familes, because its such a beautiful, unspoilt, natral place, we don't need ugly, unsightly man-made money making, tacky attractions thankyou very much.... yes I too am a horse owner, and believe me my horse noticed the monstrocity far quicker than I.... It upsets him everytime I ride past, and it saddens me, why can't places of such beauty be left alone???? Say NO to 'Go Ape!!!'"
kathryn halliwell,
"ive been visiting rivington basically all my life, have my own horse and enjoy riding around the area. i dont think that go ape should be opened. rivington is far to busy over summer as it is, so opening a childrens attraction is just going to get many more people to visit and there isnt enough room for all the cars without destroying areas to build a new car park. say NO to go ape. "I am all for enterprise however desicrating one of this countrys finest country parks in aid of "team building" rope swings for companies to use is just a joke. Instead of ruining a beautiful place for the sake of it why not convert a old mill thats empty and a eyesore and use all the floor space to swing about singing yipee as a alternative the are plenty of places you could use. I would proberly be more for it if the park was for the use of under privelaged individuals and was free to the public but i think it is about time someone addressed this issue and looked into alternative locations and revamp a dissued building rather than digging up a beautiful area and ruining it.
I hope someone sees sence before its to late!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

" Leave the area as nature intended wild and peaceful and a 400 space car park - are they mad?? Listen to the people for once leave the land as it was gifted."

"Leave Rivington alone. There's no shortage of visitors as it is. "
Alan Styles
Neil Hesford,
"Rivington should be a quiet relaxing place to walk, cycle, horse ride etc and enjoy the countryside as we have done for many years. Rivington has become very popular with incresed publicity from events such as the commonwealth games and very often we see our beauty spot gridlocked with traffic. I personnally feel "Go Ape" will only exacerbate this situation and is the thin end of the wedge if it is allowed to go ahead."

Mr. B Thomas,
"Say !NO! this area is to beautiful and used by many people for many reasons for it to be turned into a commercial venture by council officials who are looking for another way to make money how long before they charge us for the air that we breathe"
Paul Gibbons,
"This development is tantamount to rural vandalism and has no place in the area which was protected by Lord Leverhulme to be enjoyed by the people of the area.
Go Ape are eco-terrorists using whatever means necessary to make money at the expense of the enjoyment of the vast majority of people who use the area.
This development should be stopped, the car park should not be allowed to go ahead and NO CAR PARK charges should be made for Rivington and also Anglezarke."
jane Blacoe,
"'Horses don't look up' as uttered by the obviously idiotic United Utilities man. Correct they dont which is why a zip line going over a horses head is akin to a lion jumping on its back! Flight not fight.
Rivi is beautiful and should be left well alone as an outstanding beauty spot that all can enjoy. If Go Ape is built is will ruin it for so many others.
NO TO GO APE"!!!! "

"I have a photo of my parents in the 1930's sat on a bench at the side of the Pike. It appears that the wishes of the deseased were honoured (Lord Lever) in those days but not any more. I can see in 10 years or less detached houses costing £1 million on the land if we do not take action now. I feel that the only way we can take positive action enmasse is to buy shares in United Unilities and attend share holders meetings because nothing but money will change big corporation mind sets."

"we have a fantastic natural park let's keep it that way.Go Ape is not in keeping with the area."
A Patrick,
"Hands off the park you money grabbing swines!"
Mrs Margaret M. Chadwick
G Gregory,
"It's about twenty+ years ago that a strong protest was raised against the United Utilities who then wanted to turn Lever park into a 'Theme Park' their plans where thwartd then but they seem to have been biding their time, they lost then and they should loose again, this area belongs to the people and they are supposed to be custodians on our behalf, (but with a chief exec on the Chorley council who adheres to the strict rule of the planning laws, seemingly with no regard to the will of the public, and the wishes of Lord leverhume ,are we living in a democracy)? "
Doreen Whittaker,
"Horse riders are gradually losing their right to ride. The few bridleways that are available should be able to be ridden in safety."

Suzanne Davis,
"I have grave concerns about the proposed development and the affect it will have on horses in the area - have you ever tested the affects of peole swinging about in the trees and the noise of a zip wire on a horse? I think not. I mean a live alert horse not a quiet pony.
There are few enough places left to ride off the raod and we come all the way from Lytham in order to ride here. This would limit the amount of paths we can access and probably not be worth our while for the length of ride we could have - so forcing us on the roads nearer home. "

"i totally disagree with the go ape plans! what can we do to stop it going ahead? i live in preston and have been researching rivington and lord lever, whatever i can do to help just let me know!"
Dave Westlake,
"Being a regular dog walker around the area the thought of zip lines, no walking areas and a concrete car park will totally ruin what is a beautiful and relaxing enviroment. Yes we need to attract young people and families to appreciate the beauty of the area but groups of marauding middle managers chasing around on a team building exercise does not sound appealing. Keep the area natural and people will still visit but for the right reasons."
w.b.latham,
"Leave rivington alone !"

"I lead two groups of walkers regularly in the Rivington area and I do not want this intrusive development spoiling enjoyment of the area."

Lisette Thomas,
"It will bad enough as a horserider to try and manage a horses behaviour on a ride while someone is zip lining past you through the trees, but for what....a nice ride round the future Rivy car park. Please leave Rivington alone so all future generations can enjoy such a beautiful place(in its current state!)-otherwise in years to come walkers, cyclists, horseriders etc will be choosing between tesco, asda or Rivy car park for a day out. Leave Rivington alone-it will no longer be beautiful if its a concrete car park!!!"

"Typical of that most loathed of companies, United Utilities; and who'd of thought a council pushing something through for their own gain.
GoApe, Go Home."
This activity should never have been approved as it is inappropriate for such a small woodland area. Wildlife will be adversely affected and anyone hoping to enjoy continued tranquility of this area will be disappointed.
