UU said that they would spend the revenue raised from Go Ape on improving Lever Park.As David said there is no evidence that this is happening [or will happen] Indeed the opposite is true.As we always suspected, all they want the money for is to line their own pockets.

I noticed that Eastleigh council are at least making sure that the money raised by allowing Go Ape to use the land goes towards the upkeep of the remaining unspoilt areas.

Chorley didn't even mange to do that! Indeed, United utilities are taking the Go Ape money and actively running down the rest of the park (for example by closing the information centre except at weekends). Meanwhile the Go Ape money gets creamed off into United Utilities shareholders dividend.

When will these councils realise that the vast majority of people do not want these theme parks in the countryside. The reason people visit the countryside is to enjoy the wildlife, and peace and quiet, away from commercialism. They must start listening to the people who pay their wages. These schemes are simply ways of making money for councils. The fact that it is so expensive to use these facilitys proves this.Good Luck to EastLeigh in their fight. As for Eastleigh council, they should hang their heads in shame for wanting to destroy the countryside in their greedy quest for money.
