Comments from the Petition

Here are some of the comments from our online petition. It’s a reminder of the huge public opposition to the Go Ape development by the people who believe that peace and nature have a higher value than commercial progress:
This is not the right site for Go Ape. What is only a small woodland area will be spoilt forever. I have loved this area for 20 plus years and have had many happy times dog walking here. Although I no longer live in the area I visit regularly when I visit family and at weekend was appalled when I found about this and saw the work that has been done so far. Go Ape works well in large forest areas eg Grisedale in the Lakes but not here !!
I want rivington left alone for my daughter to grow up and enjoy just as me and my family have done without a tourist attraction at the heart of it
Today, we live in a world that revolves around money! – Our ancestors would be rolling in their graves in they saw the way our councils were “playing” around with the landscape of Rivington and the surrounding areas. It is about time someone stood up to our somewhat corrupt councils who only ever seem interested in money and showed them how they should do their jobs – as they are elected to serve the community well – on behalf of the people. As i previously used to own horses and still ride in the area, i know how in the summer months the village and countryside fills up with people. We don’t need any more. A development of this scale in our local area would serve no relevance or benefit to the local community nor would it do the local wildlife any good. Leave it alone! NO to GO APE!
This was the one place my family and I could visit, away from charges and themed controlled areas. We are shocked to hear about planned changes and charges. What a shame for the area, people and wildlife. Stop this and leave this area alone please.
Leave the area as nature intended wild and peaceful and a 400 space car park – are they mad?? Listen to the people for once leave the land as it was gifted.
This development is tantamount to rural vandalism and has no place in the area which was protected by Lord Leverhulme to be enjoyed by the people of the area. Go Ape are eco-terrorists using whatever means necessary to make money at the expense of the enjoyment of the vast majority of people who use the area. This development should be stopped, the car park should not be allowed to go ahead and NO CAR PARK charges should be made for Rivington and also Anglezarke.
