Western Boundary
Mar 4th, 2009 by bobdootson
The Friends of Lever Park maintain that the western boundary of Lever Park is to the waters edge of the reservoir.
Unitited Utilities say that the boundary is the iron unclimable fence ( untill it was removed )
The Friends of Lever Park yesterday sent a letter to Lindsay Hoyle MP and Ruth Kelly MP stating that in their opinion.which-ever boundary is decided upon, part or the whole of the development is within Lever Park and as such is covered in Law by the 1902 Liverpool Corporation Act. And that the Park should be protected as Lord Leverhulme wished.
It is noted that stockades are now being erected within Lever Park thereby preventing “Free and uninterupted enjoyment by the public”.
There is going to be a serious health and safety issue, the public have the right to freedom of movement within Lever Park.
Please note that United Utilities have said that any claim for injury is not their responsibility but Go-apes. Do G0-ape know that the public can walk with freedom through Lever Park, irrespective of how many stockades they erect.
What an absolute Fiasco this is turning out to be.It seems no-one is taking responsibility for the safety of the public if this Go Ape goes ahead. It is an accident waiting to happen,I like many others want to know who to claim off should any of us get injured whilst walking in this area. This develepment is completely in the wrong place. When will someone listen?Chorley Council are a disgrace for granting planning permission without proper consultation and without going to full committee[Remember it was recommended for refusal]Had the planners done a proper consultation they would have realised it was completely in the wrong place. This develepment should NOT go ahead.
Obviously Go Ape and UU are taking advantage of Chorley Council’s unwillingness to upset big business as many including the government and I suppose some of the public were unwilling to upset the bankers recently. We’ll no doubt be bound to have a wrecked environment just as we’ve a wrecked economy as a consequence. BMBC should have a say as at least as many Bolton people have access as Chorley people and I would say more Bolton people are affected. This is not to say many Chorley people are not as critical of the proposed development.
