Planet of the Apes (from Private Eye magazine)
Mar 9th, 2009 by David
Friends of Lever Park are encouraged to buy this week’s Private Eye magazine. Those of you who read Private Eye will be familiar with the ‘Rotten Boroughs’ feature which highlights incompetent council decisions the length and breadth of the UK.
This week’s column features several column inches devoted to the whole sorry saga of Go Ape at Rivington under the headline ‘Planet of the Apes’.
Chorley Council comes in for a hard time, with Donna Hall singled-out for her risible decision to retrospectively reduce the size of the site from 3.2 hectares to less than 1 hectare on the ground that most of the development is off the ground.
Get the magazine, it’s a great read and the article about Go Ape is short, pithy and very funny.

Thanks for this, I will buy a copy and look forward to reading the article. If the decision to pass plans for Go Ape without proper prior public consultation, the destruction of woodland, and total disregard for the safety of members of the public wasn’t so disturbing, it would be funny.
