Hi. Lynsey.
You have a good point about the parking spread throughout Rivington. Unfortunatly United Utilities don't share that view, they are only interested in one large pay and display car park at the Lower Barn.
Proposals have been put to United Utilities About safe off road parking in different areas of Rivington. But they don't appear interested ( there won't be any profit in that ).
If they get their way with their traffic management proposals, the only place you will be able to park will be on official car parks and eventually they will all be pay & display ( that is what was relayed to us at a presentation event ).
You will see an end to all parking between the Bottom & Top Barns
and the road turned into a one-way system coming out near the village green.
The traffic in and around the village will be horrendous, that is why every-one should oppose all future traffic management plans for Lever Park.
Please also note that the revenue from these charges will not be guaranteed to be put back into Lever Park.
What they say is that it will be put back into the estate, but they don't say which part of the estate. Ask United Utilities how big is their estate and where does it cover ?

Go Ape? why not? I'm a horse rider and have 'gone ape' at other locations across England and its fun, oh and I also have a habitat management degree. Lets face it, the parking needs sorting out at Rivington for the benefit of everybody, and maybe the revenue from Go Ape will pay for the solution. Lets face it, public transport is a joke and people have to use cars, its a fact of life. However parking for walkers, riders, cyclists etc doesn't need to be right in the middle of the 'barns area' and many of us would settle for safe off road parking on some of the many access tracks to Rivington. As for the course itself, how many people have seen how well this works in locations such as Delamere and Grizedale Forests? A little sensible co operation between user groups could go a long way. Remember that the whole idea of Rivington is that its there for people to enjoy, although admittedly some do need to show more respect for this beautiful area.
