As we understand it, United Utilities’ proposals are:

to create a new pay and display car park in a field adjacent to the Lower Barn on land that is legally not part of Lever Park.
to make the current car parks in Rivington pay and display
to charge between 50p and £1 for parking (probably 50p for a couple [...]

The Friends of Lever Park are a group of ordinary people who want to stop the commercial development of Lever Park. Over the last few months the Go Ape site has received planning approval, and United Utilities has published plans to open a large new car park. In their present form both plans are unsatisactory to [...]

There will be a meeting of the Friends of Lever Park on Monday 29th September 2008 at 8.00pm. The venue is Horwich Conservative Club on Church Street, opposite Horwich leisure Centre.
We are hoping to recive an update on progress and to decide on the next steps to safeguard the future of the park. Everyone welcome!
